Former PM Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad undergoes physiotherapy for a fractured hip at IJN, with recovery expected to take time due to his age.
KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is continuing his recovery at the National Heart Institute (IJN) from a fractured hip.
His press secretary Sufi Yusoff said Dr Mahathir will undergo physiotherapy without surgery after specialist consultations deemed it the most suitable option.
“Taking into account Tun Dr Mahathir’s age, the recovery process is expected to take some time,” he said in a statement.
Sufi added that Dr Mahathir and his family appreciate the concern and well wishes for his health.
The 100-year-old statesman is currently not allowed to receive visitors except for immediate family members.
He was admitted to IJN last Tuesday after reportedly falling at his residence in Seri Kembangan, sustaining a fracture to his right hip.
