MOE formalises a strategic collaboration with Multimedia University and Huawei to strengthen TVET in artificial intelligence at fully residential schools.
PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Education (MOE) today formalised a strategic collaboration through a memorandum of understanding with Multimedia University and Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd to strengthen Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in artificial intelligence (AI) at fully residential schools.
It said the TVET-AI initiative will be implemented this year in five selected fully residential schools before being expanded to other schools in the future.
The five schools are Sekolah Menengah (SM) Sains Banting in Selangor, SM Sains Setiu in Terengganu, SM Sains Alor Gajah in Melaka, SM Sains Kuching in Sarawak, and SM Sains Tun Syed Sheh Shahabudin in Penang.
The ministry said the strategic collaboration reflects its ongoing commitment to education reform aimed at driving academic excellence alongside future-ready technical skills through the integration of AI.
“This strategic initiative adds significant value to the ministry’s efforts to enhance student employability through the Huawei Certified ICT Associate – Artificial Intelligence (HCIA-AI) professional certification, which is internationally recognised,” it said in a statement.
It said the implementation of the TVET-AI programme is also in line with the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) and the Malaysian Education Blueprint 2026-2035, which focus on future talent development, strengthening the TVET ecosystem, and enhancing strategic collaboration between industry and academia.
