A woman caused RM45,000 in damage at an Ipoh restaurant, assaulting people and stealing cash before her arrest.
PETALING JAYA: A woman in Ipoh reportedly damaged a restaurant following an alleged payment dispute.
Buletin TV3 reported on Wednesday (January 28) that Ipoh district police chief ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad confirmed the incident occurred at around 6.30am.
The suspect allegedly reacted aggressively by grabbing customers’ food, assaulting a man, and injuring another individual in the chest area.
According to a viral video of the incident, the woman was seen verbally and physically assaulting restaurant staff.
“The suspect also used a cleaver to damage the restaurant’s property, including breaking the glass food display,” he was quoted as saying.
Abang Zainal said that the suspect is believed to have stolen cash from the restaurant and allegedly distributed the food free of charge to other customers on the premises.
The restaurant suffered losses amounting to RM45,000.
Police have arrested the suspect, who is also believed to have undergone psychiatric treatment at Taiping Hospital prior to the incident.
The public have been advised to not make any speculations or spread unverified information regarding the incident.
