Perak Perhilitan installs a trap and extra trail cameras in Bukit Bangkong following a tiger attack on cattle, with 10 personnel monitoring the area.
IPOH: The Perak Wildlife and National Parks Department has installed a trap and deployed additional trail cameras in Bukit Bangkong, Chemor, following a tiger attack in the area.
The department’s Malayan Tiger Conservation Unit head, Marina Yusof, said the action was taken after tiger footprints were found at several locations.
“In addition to the trap installed today, two cameras were set up after the attack occurred, and we added two more cameras yesterday near the site where the tiger’s footprints were discovered,” she said.
She stated that the location for the trap and the two latest cameras was chosen based on the previously found footprints.
Ten Perhilitan personnel are currently stationed in the area to monitor the situation and prevent any untoward incidents.
The incident, reported last Friday, involved two cattle killed and five others missing, causing fear among local residents.
Hulu Kinta Assemblyman Muhamad Arafat Varisai Mahamad urged residents to exercise caution and suspend recreational activities in the affected area.
He expressed confidence that Perhilitan would be able to manage the situation and capture the tiger.
