PGA7 seizes nearly RM5 million worth of goods during month-long ‘Op Benteng Covid-19’

KOTA BHARU: The 7th Battalion of the General Operations Force (PGA7) seized goods worth nearly RM5 million, involving 113 cases, during a month-long operation, code-named ‘Op Benteng Covid-19’ along the Malaysia-Thai border since last June 115.

PGA7 commanding officer Supt Azhari Nusi, in a statement today, said a total of 95 individuals were arrested, comprising 81 local residents and 14 Thai nationals.

He said the goods seized included drugs, clothing, food stuff, cigarette and vape liquid, 63 cows and 50 goats.

“The cases included 20 involving seizures of controlled items, namely flour, cooking oil, diesel and petrol worth worth RM380,695.

On drug seizures, he said it involved 19 cases during the period with 23 individuals arrested.

“The PGA will continue to intensify patrols to avoid trespassing and cross-border crimes into the country,” he added.
