Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim chaired a cabinet meeting upon his return from an official visit to Turkey, which saw the launch of a new strategic council.
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim returned home today following a three-day official visit to Turkey.
In a Facebook post, Anwar stated he proceeded directly to his office to chair a cabinet meeting.
“Alhamdulillah, I arrived home safely after concluding my official visit to the Republic of Turkiye,” he wrote.
“I then went to the office to chair the Cabinet meeting. For Malaysia!”
The visit, which began on January 6, was at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
It was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen long-standing bilateral relations between the two nations.
A key milestone was the establishment of the Malaysia-Turkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC).
President Erdogan also conferred the Order of the Republic on Anwar during the visit.
The award recognised the Prime Minister’s role in strengthening Malaysia-Turkiye relations.
