Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim lauds the formal cooperation between Turkish think tank SETA and ISIS Malaysia, aimed at fortifying bilateral ties and shaping policy.
ANKARA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim praised a new formal cooperation between Turkish think tank SETA and Malaysia’s ISIS Malaysia.
He said the pact would help fortify bilateral ties and shape policy discourse amid global complexity.
“I am encouraged that SETA and ISIS Malaysia will formalise their cooperation through a Memorandum of Understanding to be signed later today,” Anwar said in a public lecture in Ankara.
He stated the move recognised that sustained exchange between policymakers and scholars matters greatly for future outcomes.
Anwar is in Turkey on a three-day official visit at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
He said SETA has emerged as one of Turkey’s most influential think tanks since its establishment nearly two decades ago.
The Prime Minister also drew attention to the worsening crisis in Gaza, describing it as genocide.
“Tens of thousands have been killed, entire neighbourhoods erased,” he said.
He stated humanitarian aid has been systematically obstructed, with starvation and displacement used as instruments of policy.
Nevertheless, Anwar said both Malaysia and Turkey have refused to treat the situation as inevitable.
“Both have acted, delivering humanitarian assistance, mobilising diplomatic pressure and insisting that Israel be held accountable for violations of international law,” he said.
He stressed both nations can do more together to prevent atrocity from hardening into precedent.
