Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim officiates the ‘I LITE U’ lighting project in Bukit Bintang, enhancing the city’s night atmosphere for Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim officiated the launch of the “I LITE U” Lighting Innovation Project at Pavilion, Bukit Bintang.
The event aims to strengthen the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY 2026) campaign.
Anwar arrived at about 8 pm accompanied by Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.

He was received by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh and Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil and several other ministers and deputy ministers were also present.
Oscar Award winner Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh, a Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Development Programme, attended the launch.
Members of the public had gathered around Pavilion as early as 6 pm to enliven the event.
The ceremony began with the singing of Negaraku and the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 song.
Cultural performances and a special video screening followed the national anthem.
The programme also featured a large-scale parade involving 16 contingents.
Performances by popular local artistes were part of the night’s festivities.
“I LITE U” covers a main route spanning nearly one kilometre around Bukit Bintang.
The project aims to enliven the city’s night atmosphere through captivating lighting displays.
It highlights the beauty of the urban landscape using modern and sustainable technology.
This initiative aligns with the national low-carbon city agenda.
The project features several light-emitting diode (LED) designs.
It utilises energy-efficient technology with the installation of more than 70 LED lights.
