Two men from the ‘Ajoi Gang’ arrested for stealing and dismantling motorcycles in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, solving seven theft cases.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have dismantled a motorcycle theft syndicate known as the ‘Ajoi Gang’ with the arrest of two men in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

The suspects, aged 28 and 38, were detained by a Crime Prevention Patrol team from the Sentul District Police Headquarters on October 26.

Sentul police chief ACP Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari said the arrests led to the recovery of three stolen motorcycles reported missing in Sentul and Wangsa Maju.

“Investigations found that both suspects were also involved in four other motorcycle theft cases around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor,” he told a press conference.

He said the group had been active since July, targeting popular models including Yamaha Y15, RXZ, 125Z and LC.

The suspects typically stole motorcycles from apartments, flats and roadside parking areas before hiding them in squatter settlements.

“The motorcycles were then dismantled and sold as spare parts,” he said, adding that the total seizure value was estimated at RM50,000.

Both suspects had previous criminal and drug-related records and tested positive for methamphetamine.

Police have successfully solved seven motorcycle theft cases with these arrests.

Both suspects are now under remand to assist investigations as police continue operations to curb motorcycle thefts.

Ahmad Sukarno urged the public to be cautious when parking motorcycles in open areas and report suspicious activities to the Sentul District Police Operations Room at 03-4048 2222. – Bernama
