Kinabatangan by-election candidates cast votes as polling begins
KINABATANGAN: Two candidates in the Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election cast their votes by 9 am today.
Barisan Nasional candidate Mohd Kurniawan Naim Moktar voted at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bilit at 8.58 am.
Independent candidate Goldam Hamid voted at SK Minusoh at 8.54 am.
Polling centres for the Kinabatangan parliamentary and Lamag state by-elections opened at 7.30 am.
They are scheduled to close at 5.30 pm, with some centres closing in stages.
Favourable weather conditions were reported throughout this morning’s polling.
The tallying of votes will take place at Dewan Sri Lamag.
Official results are expected at 10 pm.
Mohd Kurniawan Naim, Goldam and Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman of Warisan are vying for the Kinabatangan parliamentary seat.
For the Lamag state seat, Mohd Ismail Ayob of BN is up against Mazliwati Abdul Malek of Warisan.
Both by-elections were called following the death of incumbent Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin on Dec 5 last year.
