Barisan Nasional mobilises its election machinery to defend the Kinabatangan parliamentary and Lamag state seats in Sabah’s upcoming by-elections.
KINABATANGAN: Barisan Nasional (BN) has officially launched its election machinery for the Kinabatangan parliamentary and Lamag state by-elections.
The coalition vowed to retain both seats, which it considers traditional strongholds.
BN’s Election Machinery director Datuk Jafry Ariffin said the party machinery is ready to mobilise in support of its candidates.

The candidates are Mohd Kurniawan Naim Moktar for Kinabatangan and Mohd Ismail Ayob for Lamag.
Jafry said campaign efforts are receiving support from Sabah Unity Government component parties.
These include Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah, Amanah and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah.
“God willing, it will take one to two days to fully mobilise our machinery across the three state constituencies of Sukau, Lamag and Kuamut,” he said.
He added the team will work to ensure both seats are retained.
Jafry, who is also Sabah BN chairman, described the pairing of the two young candidates as strategic.
He noted they are familiar local figures with a strong understanding of constituents’ aspirations.
Mohd Ismail said he is ready to give his full commitment despite being a newcomer in BN.
He stated he is open to advice from party leaders to ensure victory.
The by-elections were triggered by the death of incumbent Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin on Dec 5.
The Election Commission has set polling day for both by-elections on Jan 24.
Early voting will take place on Jan 20. – Bernama
