PH candidate prioritises housing and infrastructure in Petagas

PH candidate Awang Husaini pledges affordable housing, infrastructure upgrades and better healthcare for Petagas in Sabah state election

KOTA KINABALU: Pakatan Harapan candidate Datuk Awang Husaini Sahari has made affordable housing and infrastructure upgrades his top priorities for the Petagas state seat.

The former Putatan MP said rapid population growth in the suburb closest to Kota Kinabalu is straining existing facilities.

“We may need to develop more People’s Housing Programmes,” he told Bernama recently.

He emphasised that road expansion, river-deepening works and larger school capacities are necessary to ease congestion.

Healthcare facilities also require upgrading to handle increasing patient numbers, including expanding the main polyclinic and establishing new clinics.

“The clinics are already there, but they need to be expanded as the population has grown significantly,” he said.

Awang Husaini pledged support for small traders and young entrepreneurs needing guidance to access government incentives.

“The challenge here lies in the community’s awareness of how to obtain government resources,” he noted.

He suggested local community leaders should facilitate engagement between traders and local authorities.

Solutions achieved through negotiations would ensure outcomes benefiting all parties, he added.
