PKR dismisses PAS claims of government inaction on West Asia conflict

PKR rejects PAS claims of government inaction on West Asia, citing ASEAN energy plans and cost-saving measures as proof of proactive preparations

KUALA LUMPUR: PKR has rejected claims by a PAS leader that the government lacks concrete plans to address the West Asia conflict.

Central leadership council member Amidi Abdul Manan described the allegations by PAS Ulama Council Information Chief Mohd Nor Hamzah as baseless.

He stated that Mohd Nor had deliberately ignored government measures, including regional initiatives.

Amidi pointed to the recent ASEAN Economic Ministers’ meeting, which decided to optimise frameworks like the ASEAN Power Grid.

These measures aim to ensure stable energy flows in response to the conflict’s potential impact.

He also cited domestic cost-saving measures as part of long-term preparations.

These include the government’s decision not to hold official Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house events.

“We are also awaiting the implementation of work-from-home measures currently being examined by the Chief Secretary to the Government of Malaysia to further strengthen efforts to reduce fossil fuel consumption,” Amidi said in a statement.

He asserted that the current administration is committed to building national resilience.

“It is clear that today’s MADANI Government is a responsible administration committed to building national resilience in terms of the economy, society, governance and technology in facing an increasingly challenging and uncertain global situation,” he added.

Amidi also questioned whether opposition-led states had taken any concrete steps to advance their own economies.

He challenged the opposition to demonstrate their own proactive economic measures.
