Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim confirms PH’s willingness to work with any party to form Sabah state government after Saturday’s state election.
PUTATAN: Pakatan Harapan is open to cooperating with all parties to form the state government following the 17th Sabah State Election.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said this cooperation is necessary to ensure continued development in Sabah.
Speaking at the ‘Harapan Urang Sabah’ carnival, Anwar emphasised that federal and state government collaboration is crucial for Sabah’s progress.
The PH chairman noted that since his coalition is contesting only a limited number of seats, they are prepared to work with any party.
Anwar revealed he attended a programme with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor earlier today to assist the party in winning this election.
“I went to meet Hajiji this morning because I have experience working with him,” he said.
“I have met him dozens of times and he never asked for projects for himself or requested shares.”
Anwar praised Hajiji for consistently requesting additional projects for the people of Sabah rather than personal benefits.
“That is why I have a good working relationship with him,” he added.
The Prime Minister expressed hope that cooperation can continue because the Sabah government needs PH.
He urged people in Putatan to help elect the PH candidate for the Petagas state constituency, Datuk Awang Husaini Sahari.
Anwar clarified that his visit to Sabah was not to make new promises but to explain implemented federal initiatives.
He wants Sabahans to understand federal government initiatives including water and electricity issue resolutions.
Other initiatives highlighted include the Pan Borneo Highway and matters related to the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
“These initiatives are not promises; they have already been implemented,” Anwar stressed.
“This is why I say we must know the facts.”
PH is contesting 22 of the 73 seats available in Saturday’s state election.
