Sabah’s Barisan Nasional will contest 45 state seats after adding four new candidates to strengthen its election campaign lineup.
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Barisan Nasional will contest four additional seats in the upcoming state election, bringing its total to 45.
Sabah BN chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin described the move as part of efforts to strengthen the coalition’s leadership lineup and readiness for the polls.
He said the decision followed detailed consultations to ensure broader and more strategic representation across constituencies.
“The additional seats were finalised in line with BN’s aspiration to ensure balanced and inclusive representation,” he said in a statement.
The four new candidates are Willey Lampaki for Bandau, Rahmah Jan Sulaiman for Kemabong, Datuk Chin Kim Hiung for Karamunting, and Chaya Sulaiman for Kukusan.
Bung Moktar said the move underscores Sabah BN’s commitment to ensuring all communities receive effective representation.
“Party machineries at all levels are urged to intensify preparations and execute well-coordinated campaign efforts,” he said.
On Sunday, Sabah BN announced its initial list of 41 state seats comprising both new and incumbent faces.
Bung Moktar said BN’s lineup offers a fresh and comprehensive mix of leadership aimed at driving Sabah towards more inclusive development.
“I hope this team will fulfil its responsibilities with dedication and demonstrate its capability to earn voter confidence,” he said.
