Sabah chief minister urges voters to choose wisely in state election

Sabah CM Hajiji Noor advises voters to choose a government that brings benefits, stability and development in Saturday’s state election.

TUARAN: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has advised state voters to make the right choice in Saturday’s state election.

“Do not choose a government that was given a chance for two and a half years but failed to govern Sabah, leading to its rejection by the people in the last state election,” said Hajiji, who is also Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman.

“Choose a government that brings benefits, political stability and development to Sabah,” he told a gathering at the Cultural Centre of the Sabah Bajau Sama Association.

The programme was also attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as part of the state election campaign.

Hajiji stated that GRS has proven its ability to govern Sabah effectively throughout its five-year administration.

He added that with federal government support, the GRS-led administration has revitalised Sabah’s economy.

The state government introduced the Sabah Maju Jaya 1.0 Roadmap prioritising three key economic development sectors.

It also focuses on human capital development, education and public well-being while caring for the poorest citizens.

Hajiji expressed appreciation for Anwar’s attentiveness, describing him as the Prime Minister who visits Sabah most frequently.

“There has never been a Prime Minister who comes to Sabah this often,” he said.

“He is a caring Prime Minister who helps Sabah in many aspects, including providing substantial allocations for public facilities.”

Hajiji noted Anwar’s commitment is evident in maintained diesel subsidies for Sabah and Sarawak.

This ensures residents in both states continue enjoying lower fuel prices than Peninsular Malaysia.

“This is because he understands that Sabah is a large state and its people need more affordable diesel,” he added.

GRS is contesting 55 of the 73 seats in the election.

A total of 1,760,417 regular voters are eligible to cast ballots on Saturday.

Military and police personnel along with their spouses totalling 24,426 people voted last Tuesday.
