Sabah election results indicate voters prefer local parties that cooperate with the federal unity government, says PH secretary-general.
KULIM: The recent Sabah state election results signal that voters tend to choose local parties that are friendly to the federal unity government.
Pakatan Harapan secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the results also show Sabahans want a state government that can work hand-in-hand with the federal administration.
He said the party has completed a detailed analysis of the election results by polling channel, not just by district.

“The important signal we can learn is, first, the strength of the Sabah people in prioritising local parties, which is ‘Sabah for Sabahan’,” he told reporters after officiating a programme here today.
He said the strong local sentiment meant the biggest beneficiaries were two parties, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah and Parti Warisan.
Saifuddin said that although both GRS and Warisan received high support, analysis shows GRS achieved a victory that surpassed Warisan.
“So, for me, the recent victory is a victory for the Unity Government,” he said.
He added that while PH did not win many seats, the broader victory for unity was more important.
Saifuddin also said a unity government-level meeting to discuss the Sabah election results in detail will be held soon. – Bernama
