Sabah’s new cabinet sworn in with three deputy chief ministers

Sabah’s new cabinet is sworn in with three deputy chief ministers: Joachim Gunsalam, Masidi Manjun and Ewon Benedick, following GRS’s election victory.

KOTA KINABALU: The new Sabah state cabinet was sworn in today with three deputy chief ministers appointed.

Acting Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam is among the three deputies in the newly formed administration.

The other two deputy chief ministers are Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) secretary-general Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun and United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) president Datuk Ewon Benedick.

Joachim, Masidi and Ewon took their oaths before Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman at Istana Seri Kinabalu.

GRS chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor was sworn in as the 17th Chief Minister of Sabah earlier on Sunday.

This followed the conclusion of the state election where GRS won 29 of the 73 seats contested.

Parti Warisan secured 25 seats, with Barisan Nasional winning six and Independents taking five.

Other parties securing seats were UPKO (3), Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (2), while Perikatan Nasional, Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat and Pakatan Harapan each won one seat.
