UMNO to decide on new members based on three core principles

UMNO’s Supreme Council will decide on political leaders joining based on Rumah Bangsa, National Consultation and Grand Collaboration principles

PONTIAN: Any decision on allowing political leaders to join UMNO will be determined by the party’s Supreme Council based on three core principles.

Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan said the council would decide on any application to join the party, guided by the concepts of “Rumah Bangsa”, National Consultation and Grand Collaboration.

“If they want to be with us (UMNO), the MKT will decide,” he said when met after an event here.

Ahmad, who is also a UMNO Supreme Council member and Deputy Works Minister, was commenting on claims that several Bersatu leaders would join UMNO.

He stressed that UMNO and Barisan Nasional would not take advantage of the problems faced by other parties.

Both coalitions would continue to strengthen themselves based on their own capabilities, he added.

His comments follow the recent expulsion of former Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin from his party.

Hamzah was expelled from Bersatu last Friday for allegedly violating the party constitution.
