UMNO Youth’s convention proposals, including views on the Unity Government, will be referred to the party’s supreme council for final decisions
MANJUNG: Any proposals from the UMNO Youth Special Convention will be submitted to the party’s supreme council for consideration.
Barisan Nasional secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir (pic) said this includes calls related to UMNO’s position in the Unity Government.
He stated that views expressed by the youth wing were within their rights.
However, decisions on the party’s direction would be made through its established decision-making structure.
“That is the view of the Youth wing, and as stated by the UMNO Youth chief (Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh) yesterday, any views, demands or proposals will be referred to the Supreme Council,” he told reporters.
Zambry, also an UMNO Supreme Council member, said the party’s process is conducted collectively and maturely.
He was speaking after a Back to School programme aid handover here.
The UMNO Youth Special Convention was held at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur.
Among the topics discussed was UMNO’s direction within the Unity Government.
