Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution says UMNO’s role is vital for political stability, enabling focus on reforms and economic growth in Malaysia.
RAWANG: Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has emphasised the crucial role of UMNO in ensuring the stability of the Unity Government.
He said the political maturity shown by UMNO, as the largest Malay-based party in the government, has strengthened unity and ensured effective administration.
“UMNO is currently the largest Malay-based party in the government with 30 Members of Parliament and holding eight full ministerial posts,” he told reporters.
He contrasted the current stability with the previous term, which saw three prime ministers in five years.
The current government has maintained a single prime minister for almost three years of administration.
This stability has allowed the government to focus on reform agendas, economic growth and more orderly governance.
Commenting on the prime minister’s tenure limit, Saifuddin Nasution said it signals leadership grounded in accountability.
He expressed full confidence in UMNO’s leadership wisdom within the current political landscape.
The minister stressed that the Unity Government remains united, stable and functioning well.
His remarks follow UMNO Youth’s recent rejection of any “backdoor manoeuvres” that could destabilise the government.
