RM115 million approved for urban community wellbeing programmes

Housing Ministry approves RM115.1 million for 3,472 urban community programmes, including poverty eradication and non-Muslim worship place maintenance

ALOR SETAR: The Housing and Local Government Ministry has approved RM115.1 million for community wellbeing initiatives in urban areas throughout this year.

Minister Nga Kor Ming said the allocation supported 3,472 programmes organised by the Community Wellbeing Division in collaboration with local authorities and strategic partners.

The Urban Poverty Eradication Programme received RM61.8 million, while the Urban Community Sustainability Programme was allocated RM2.02 million.

Local Agenda 21 programmes received RM980,000, and the Community Consensus Secretariat was allocated RM304,000.

A total of RM50 million was channelled to maintain 413 Non-Muslim Houses of Worship under the RIBI initiative.

Nga said the implementation of various community wellbeing programmes proves that no community is marginalised.

He explained that synergy between the ministry, local authorities and state governments enables transformation for public benefit.

“This success story reflects our commitment to continue providing first-class services to communities nationwide through strong collaboration,” he said.

The ministry remains steadfast in ensuring urban community wellbeing continues to be strengthened nationwide. – Bernama
