Sarawak’s Public Works Department warns the public about a fake compensation checklist circulating online, urging reliance on official channels.
SIBU: The Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) has denied issuing a document titled “Checklist of Documents for Vehicle Damage Compensation Claims” circulating on social media.
In a statement, JKR Sarawak’s corporate communications branch declared the document invalid and not from the department.
A Bernama check found the checklist, believed to have been shared since February, lists documents purportedly needed to claim compensation for vehicle damage from road defects.
It advises affected individuals to visit a JKR office with supporting documents like a police report and photos.
“The public is advised not to spread unverified information and to always refer to official JKR Sarawak channels for accurate and up-to-date information,” the department stated.
For complaints, the public should use official channels like the department’s Facebook page or the TaliKhidmat portal.
