Six Malaysian states on alert for severe continuous rainfall

NADMA issues disaster preparedness notice for Kelantan, Terengganu, Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Perak amid severe rain warnings until November 26

KUALA LUMPUR: The National Disaster Control Centre has issued a disaster preparedness notice for six states facing severe continuous rainfall warnings.

NDCC cited the Malaysian Meteorological Department’s forecast of heavy persistent rainfall in several Kelantan districts until Monday.

An alert-level continuous rain warning covers Perlis, Kedah, Penang and multiple Perak districts until November 24.

Similar alerts apply to additional Kelantan districts and Terengganu until November 26.

State and district Disaster Management Committees must activate immediately and heighten preparedness in high-risk zones.

Committees must ensure temporary relief centres are stocked with essential supplies.

Incident control posts require sufficient operational assets in ready-to-use condition.

NADMA will continue monitoring the situation through NDCC in cooperation with technical agencies.

The NDCC remains on standby to receive disaster reports and coordinate operational aid.
