A soldier died in a pre-dawn crash involving two motorcycles and a car in Masjid Tanah, with another rider seriously injured.
ALOR GAJAH: A 26-year-old soldier was killed in a three-vehicle collision along Jalan Padang Kemunting early this morning.
Melaka Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Muhammad Zaki Ramat said the crash involved the soldier’s Yamaha RXZ, a SYM VF3i motorcycle, and a Proton Saga car.
The victim, who was travelling from Sungai Udang towards Pengkalan Balak, is believed to have entered the opposite lane while overtaking.
He then collided head-on with the other motorcycle and the car travelling in the opposite direction.
“The impact killed him instantly,” said Muhammad Zaki in a statement.
The soldier died at the scene from severe head injuries and the loss of his right arm.
An 18-year-old motorcyclist involved in the crash sustained fractures to his right leg and arm.
He was taken to Melaka Hospital for treatment, while the 29-year-old female car driver escaped unhurt.
The victim’s body was sent to the Alor Gajah Hospital Forensic Department for a post-mortem.
Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
