Sultan Ibrahim attends state banquet at Bahrain’s Sakhir Palace

Malaysia’s King Sultan Ibrahim honoured at Bahrain state banquet with royal family members and ministers, marking first royal visit since 1974.

MANAMA: Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, will be honoured at a State Banquet hosted by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain at Sakhir Palace tonight.

The evening begins with a private royal event at 7.30 pm local time.

Sultan Ibrahim is accompanied by Johor royal family members Tunku Idris Iskandar Al-Haj, Tunku Abdul Rahman Al-Haj and Tunku Abu Bakar Al-Haj.

Also attending are Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and senior Malaysian officials.

The banquet includes Quran recitals at the National Council Room followed by speeches from both monarchs.

Sultan Ibrahim arrived in Bahrain yesterday after a four-day state visit to Saudi Arabia.

This marks his sixth state engagement abroad following Singapore, China, Brunei, Russia and Saudi Arabia.

The visit represents a historic milestone as the first Malaysian royal visit to Bahrain since 1974. – Bernama
