Selangor MB says Sungai Buloh flood resulted from river overflow and mitigation system failure, with 2,910 evacuees across 23 relief centres.
SHAH ALAM: The Sungai Buloh flood resulted from Sungai Buloh’s overflow and continuous rainfall exceeding 24 hours.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari confirmed the flood mitigation system could not handle the water volume.
He noted extraordinary weather conditions and rising water levels still affected residents despite state-built bunds.
“The state government is identifying follow-up measures to ensure resident safety,” he posted on Facebook.
This includes improving flood mitigation infrastructure and immediate actions for affected individuals’ wellbeing.
Amirudin visited the relief centre at Sekolah Desa Aman, Sungai Buloh, this afternoon.
He described it as Selangor’s largest centre, capable of housing approximately 1,000 evacuees from 231 families.
It currently shelters evacuees from Taman Saujana Aman, Kampung Sri Aman and Kampung Boyan.
As of 5.30 pm, 2,910 evacuees from 789 families are housed in 23 relief centres across five flood-hit Selangor districts.
