Syed Zainal Abidin appointed new chairman of Perbadanan Wakaf Selangor

Corporate figure Tan Sri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir is the new PWS chairman, succeeding Datuk Ibrahim Md Yusoff.

SHAH ALAM: Corporate leader Tan Sri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir has been appointed the new Chairman of Perbadanan Wakaf Selangor (PWS).

His appointment, effective January 1, was made with the consent of the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

He succeeds Datuk Ibrahim Md Yusoff, who contributed significantly to strengthening PWS during his tenure.

In a statement, PWS said the appointment reflects its commitment to strengthening waqf institution governance in Selangor.

It also aims to enhance PWS’s role as a strategic, sustainable and effective instrument for socio-economic development of the Muslim community.

Syed Zainal Abidin brings extensive experience in corporate development and governance.

His previous roles include Executive Director at PERODUA Auto Corporation Sdn Bhd and Group Managing Director of Proton Holdings Berhad.

He also served as Managing Director of Petronas Dagangan.

He has held key positions in corporate agencies focused on community development, including Chairman of Dagang NeXchange Berhad (DNEX).

He is also Chairman of Silterra Malaysia Sdn Bhd and a member of the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council.

PWS expressed its appreciation to outgoing chairman Ibrahim for his contributions and efforts.

Syed Zainal Abidin becomes the third chairman of PWS since the corporation was established in 2011.
