Sabah deputy CM says rural market construction proves federal government’s commitment to empowering village-level micro and small enterprises.
KOTA KINABALU: The construction of tamu desa premises demonstrates the federal government’s commitment to empowering micro, small and medium enterprises, particularly at the village level across Sabah.
Sabah Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk Ewon Benedick said facilities like the one at Kampung Ramayah Tamu Desa in Penampang resulted from the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives’ implementation last year.
“Tamu Desa was among the facilities requested by the village leaders when I was leading KUSKOP,” said Ewon, who is also the state Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Transport.

He noted the market, held every Saturday and managed by the local neighbourhood watch committee, is fully utilised by small business owners for sales.
“This development proves the ease provided by the government in line with the real needs of micro and small entrepreneurs at the village level,” he added in a statement.
Ewon said his ministry’s priority is to empower MSMEs as a main driver of the state’s economy.
His transport portfolio focuses on logistics, involving three agencies previously under the Sabah Ministry of Public Works. – Bernama
