Thai PM Anutin to visit Malaysia for bilateral talks

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul will visit Malaysia to strengthen cooperation on border security, trade and ASEAN matters during his official trip.

BANGKOK: Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul will make an official visit to Malaysia on Wednesday to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Thailand’s Foreign Ministry said Anutin is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“Both prime ministers will meet to deepen cooperation, particularly in the development of border areas, border security, transport connectivity, trade and investment, tourism, food security, and future industries,” the ministry said.

The leaders will also discuss efforts to strengthen ASEAN’s capacity to address global challenges.

This builds on the outcomes of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits held last month in Kuala Lumpur.

Anutin was elected as Thailand’s 32nd Prime Minister in September and made his first visit to Malaysia on Oct 25 to attend the summit.
