Three new stations proposed for Kempas Baru-Pasir Gudang commuter line

Three locations in Johor have been proposed for new stations on a planned commuter line from Kempas Baru to Pasir Gudang to ease highway congestion.

JOHOR BAHRU: Three locations have been proposed for new stations on a planned commuter rail service from Kempas Baru to Pasir Gudang.

Johor Public Works, Transport, Infrastructure and Communications Committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh said the proposed sites are Taman Daya, Bandar Seri Alam and Pasir Putih.

He said the new stations would facilitate daily passenger movement in the affected areas.

“The relevant parties are also reviewing all technical aspects to ensure the best quality of service for the people of Johor,” he said in a Facebook post.

He urged the public to await positive developments on the project in the near future.

Mohamad Fazli said the planned commuter service is seen as the best solution to ease extraordinary congestion on the Pasir Gudang Highway.

This fast and efficient transport alternative would ensure smoother travel and help commuters save time.

The project involves opening an approximately 40-kilometre railway line previously used for cargo services to passenger traffic.

Planning is being undertaken in collaboration with Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB).

It includes developing several medium-scale stations to facilitate passenger movement.
