Thunderstorms and heavy rain forecast across multiple states until 5pm

MetMalaysia issues weather warnings for thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds in Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak, and Sabah until 5pm today

KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are forecast to hit several areas across Peninsular Malaysia, Sarawak, and Sabah until 5pm today.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued the warning at 2.20pm.

In Peninsular Malaysia, affected areas include Southwest, Northeast, and North Seberang Perai in Penang, as well as Batang Padang and Muallim in Perak.

The warning also covers Cameron Highlands, Raub, and Rompin in Pahang, along with Segamat, Kluang, Kulai, Kota Tinggi, and Johor Bahru in Johor.

In Sarawak, the alert involves Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Saratok, Kabong, Sarikei, Sibu, Tanjung Manis, Daro, Matu, Kapit, Tatau, and Limbang.

For Sabah, affected areas include the Interior districts of Sipitang, Tenom, Beaufort, and Nabawan.

The West Coast districts of Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, and Kota Belud are also included, along with Tawau and Lahad Datu in the Tawau division.
