Wisma Putra urges Malaysians to avoid Middle East travel now

Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry warns against Middle East travel amid US-Iran conflict, offers emergency

PETALING JAYA: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra) has urged all Malaysians to postpone non-essential travel to the Middle East following the rapid escalation of the US-Iran conflict.

In a statement, Wisma Putra said its top priority remains the safety and welfare of Malaysian citizens in affected countries.

“Given the highly uncertain situation, including sudden flight disruptions and airspace closures, we strongly advise all Malaysian travelers to liaise directly with their airlines for the latest schedules and route adjustments,” the statement said.

Wisma Putra confirmed that its diplomatic missions are actively assisting Malaysians stranded in Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Syria, Jordan, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and that all contacted individuals remain safe.

The Ministry also reminded the public to avoid spreading unverified information and to rely only on official sources, including the Ministry’s communications and the social media accounts of Malaysian diplomatic missions, for updates.

Malaysians are encouraged to register their presence via the e-Konsular portal at https://ekonsular.kln.gov.my to facilitate communication and consular support. Travelers are urged to comply strictly with local authorities’ instructions and shelter in safe locations if advised.

For those unable to reach a diplomatic mission, the Ministry’s Operations Room in Putrajaya is available for emergency consular assistance at +603-8887 4570 or [email protected].

The advisory comes amid reports of a US-Israel joint attack on Iran, sparking fiery assaults and heightened tensions across the Middle East, affecting multiple countries beyond the immediate conflict zone.
