Flood situation worsens in Perak, Kedah, and Penang with 4,252 victims moved to temporary shelters as relief centres multiply.
KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 4,252 flood victims have been relocated to temporary relief centres across Perak, Kedah, and Penang as flooding continues to affect these states.
In Perak, the number of evacuees increased to 2,496 individuals from 857 families by this afternoon.
Kerian and Perak Tengah districts have become the latest areas impacted by the ongoing floods.
The Perak State Disaster Management Committee reported that 24 relief centres are currently operational throughout the state.

Two new centres opened at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Dew in Kerian and Sekolah Menengah Layang-Layang Kiri Parit in Perak Tengah are sheltering 183 victims.
Larut Matang and Selama districts are housing 1,813 victims across 19 separate relief centres.
Manjung district is providing shelter for 500 people across three operational relief centres.
Kedah has seen a significant rise in flood victims with 1,007 people affected by 5 pm.
