RM100 SARA aid for all adults starts Monday

The one-off RM100 aid under SARA For All will be credited to MyKad from Monday, with RM2.2 billion allocated for all Malaysians aged 18 and above.

KUALA LUMPUR: A one-off RM100 aid for all adult Malaysians will be disbursed through their MyKad starting Monday.

Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said the SARA For All programme has an allocation of RM2.2 billion.

Eligibility can be checked from today via the sara.gov.my portal, with no application required.

“The aid will be credited automatically into recipients’ respective MyKad, and is valid for use until Dec 31, 2026,” he told the Dewan Rakyat.

He was replying to a question from Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa regarding the SARA programme’s allocation and market impact.

The initiative is part of the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah under Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah, providing targeted cashless aid.

Amir Hamzah added the government is studying a proposal to include wet food as a new SARA category.

This study will consider quality, food safety, and consumer guarantees before any decision.

He also noted a significant expansion in the SARA merchant network to 10,700 outlets nationwide.

This figure is up from only 700 outlets in 2024, with 3,000 being small traders.

The government aims to increase the number of small grocery shops in the network to 10,000 outlets this year.

This expansion will reduce the distance from the nearest sundry shop to a recipient from 10 kilometres to seven km.
