Muar MP Syed Saddiq finishes Ironman Malaysia in under 13 hours, earning RM1 million donation from Prima Valet for his constituents.
LANGKAWI: Muar Member of Parliament Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman secured one million ringgit in contributions for his constituents’ welfare by completing the Ironman Malaysia Championship in Langkawi yesterday.
The 32-year-old former Youth and Sports Minister finished the gruelling triathlon in twelve hours, twenty-two minutes, and eighteen seconds.
He stated that his primary goal was to secure one million ringgit for Muar through his participation in the event.
Syed Saddiq confirmed that Prima Valet must now fulfil its promise to donate one million ringgit for food banks, laptops, and festive clothing.
He expressed his determination to ensure the welfare of his people remains well cared for regardless of personal challenges.
The politician revealed he vomited several times during the race due to physical discomfort but pushed through with his constituents in mind.
He identified the running segment as the most challenging part of the triathlon despite improving his time from last year.
Syed Saddiq explained that he participates in such events to test his physical and mental limits as part of personal development.
He confirmed his intention to join the event again next year despite the physical pain involved in completion.
The Muar MP emphasized the importance of maintaining physical and mental strength for effective leadership in any field.
Local fashion company Prima Valet had previously pledged one million ringgit to Muar residents if Syed Saddiq completed the race within thirteen hours.
The triathlon consisted of a 3.8-kilometre swim, a 180-kilometre cycling segment, and a 42.2-kilometre running portion. – Bernama
