Thunderstorms and heavy rain forecast for several Malaysian states

MetMalaysia issues thunderstorm warning for Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Johor and multiple areas until 3pm today with heavy rain expected.

KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds are forecast to affect the entire federal territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya along with the whole state of Johor until 3pm today.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department also warned several areas in Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Sarawak would experience similar adverse weather conditions.

In Terengganu, the affected districts include Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu and Marang according to MetMalaysia’s statement.

Pahang’s Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin districts are also expected to be hit by the thunderstorms and heavy rain.

Selangor will see adverse weather in Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang.

Negeri Sembilan’s Jelebu, Seremban and Port Dickson areas are similarly forecast to experience stormy conditions.

Sarawak’s Betong and Mukah divisions including Daro, Matu, Dalat and Mukah districts complete the list of affected areas.

The weather warning remains in effect until 3 pm today based on the latest meteorological assessment. – Bernama
