Aaron-Wooi Yik storm into India Open quarter-finals

National top pairs Aaron-Wooi Yik and Pearly-Thinaah cruise into the India Open quarter-finals with straight-set victories in New Delhi.

THE country’s top men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik cruised into the quarter-finals of the India Open 2026 today.

The second seeds needed just 33 minutes to defeat Japan’s Takumi Nomura-Yuichi Shimogami 21-9, 23-21 in their second-round match in New Delhi.

Aaron-Wooi Yik, the two-time Olympic bronze medallists, will next face Taiwan’s Lee Jhe-Huei-Yang Po-Hsuan.

The Taiwanese pair booked their spot by defeating Malaysians Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Mohd Rumsani 21-14, 17-21, 21-14.

Meanwhile, the country’s top women’s pair Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah also advanced to the quarter-finals.

The second seeds overcame France’s Margot Lambert-Camille Pognante 21-7, 23-21 in straight sets.

Pearly-Thinaah will now face Taiwan’s eighth seeds Hsieh Pei Shan-Hung En Tzu.
