A Florida roadway near Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club is ceremonially renamed in his honour, adding to a list of things bearing his name since his return to office.
WEST PALM BEACH: A roadway near former US President Donald Trump’s private club in Florida has been ceremonially renamed in his honour.
State lawmakers approved giving an honorary new name to a section of Southern Boulevard, which links Palm Beach International Airport to Mar-a-Lago.
The road is frequently used by the presidential motorcade when Trump travels between the airport and his property.

Speaking at an event held at Mar-a-Lago, Trump said he was “tremendously honoured” by the recognition.
“I’ll remember this amazing gesture for the rest of my life,” he said.
Local county commissioners confirmed the name change does not alter official addresses, emergency response systems, or government maps.
Since returning to office a year ago, Trump’s name has been attached to numerous high-profile buildings, programs, and initiatives.
These include a proposed new class of Navy warships and a visa initiative for affluent foreign nationals.
A government-run prescription drug website and federal savings accounts for children have also been branded with his name.
Historians view the trend as a superficial attempt by the president to cement his legacy, which may ultimately prove short-lived.
Opposition has surfaced over other renamings, including a Washington performing arts venue.
Several performers withdrew in protest after it was renamed the Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts.
Washington has many buildings and monuments named for presidents, but these honours typically come long after they leave office.
Such national tributes are usually authorised by Congress.
In a separate event, Trump accepted a Nobel Peace Prize medal from Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado during a White House meeting.
The White House said he intends to keep the medal.
The Norwegian Nobel Committee stated the prize cannot be transferred, shared, or revoked. – Reuters
