Russian strike on Kharkiv kills two, hits children’s medical facility

A Russian drone attack on Kharkiv kills two, wounds three, and strikes a children’s medical facility, as Moscow’s bombardment of Ukraine continues.

KHARKIV: A Russian overnight attack on Ukraine’s northeastern city of Kharkiv killed at least two people and wounded several others.

Regional Governor Oleg Synegubov confirmed the fatalities in a post on the Telegram messaging app early Tuesday.

“As of now, two people are known to have been killed by the enemy attacks on the outskirts of Kharkiv,” he wrote.

Synegubov added that another three people were wounded in the assault.

Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov stated that a Russian long-range drone struck a medical facility for children, causing a fire.

Moscow has pummelled Ukraine with daily drone and missile barrages for months, often targeting energy infrastructure.

Russia’s use of a nuclear-capable Oreshnik ballistic missile last week drew condemnation from Kyiv’s allies.

Washington called that strike a “dangerous and inexplicable escalation of this war”.

Moscow claimed on Monday that missile hit an aviation repair factory in the Lviv region.

It said the strike was in response to a Ukrainian attempt to target one of President Vladimir Putin’s residences, a claim Kyiv denies.
