Turkish president accuses Israel of blocking Gaza aid

Turkish President Erdogan accuses Israel of using fabricated excuses to block humanitarian aid to Gaza and vows to increase support for Palestinians.

ANKARA: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has accused Israel of failing to honour its commitments and deliberately obstructing humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Speaking at his party’s meeting, Erdogan said Israel is “constantly creating difficulties and obstacles to the entry of humanitarian aid with fabricated excuses.”

He stated that hardships continue in Gaza despite a ceasefire, with residential areas turned to rubble.

Erdogan vowed that Turkey would increase its support for Palestinians in the coming period.

“As Turkey, we will not back down, we will not remain silent, we will not forget, and we will never leave Gaza alone,” he said.

Positioning Turkey’s stance as part of a broader humanitarian policy, Erdogan said the country has consistently aided those in distress globally.

He stressed that while Turkey supports peace, it will not accept injustice or remain silent in the face of oppression.

Erdogan also said Turkey would firmly defend its rights in regional disputes like the Eastern Mediterranean and Aegean.

On domestic security, he said Turkey’s push for a “terror-free Turkey” has begun to ease pessimism beyond its borders.

He added that various communities in the region are now looking to the future with renewed hope.
