Two arrested after reported gunshots at Sydney’s Bondi Beach

Police in Sydney have two people in custody following reports of gunfire at Bondi Beach, urging the public to avoid the area

SYDNEY: Police have two people in custody following reports of multiple gunshots at Sydney’s famed Bondi Beach on Sunday.

New South Wales police urged the public to avoid the area in a statement on social media.

“Police are responding to a developing incident at Bondi Beach and are urging the public to AVOID the area,” the statement read.

Officials warned the operation was ongoing and advised people to obey police instructions.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported one suspected shooter was shot by police while another was detained.

Bondi Beach in eastern Sydney is Australia’s most famous beach, attracting large crowds of surfers, swimmers and tourists. – AFP
