Ukraine attacks Russian oil refinery near Moscow in retaliatory strike

Ukraine strikes Ryazan oil refinery near Moscow, retaliating after Russian attacks killed seven in Kyiv and four in southern regions

KYIV: Ukraine’s military attacked a Russian oil refinery in the Ryazan region near Moscow on Saturday.

The strike targeted “part of efforts to reduce the enemy’s ability to launch missile and bomb strikes,” the Ukrainian army stated on social media.

This attack occurred one day after Russian strikes on Kyiv apartment blocks killed seven people.

An elderly woman wounded during Friday’s shelling died in hospital Saturday morning, according to Kyiv city administration official Tymur Tkachenko.

Other Friday victims included a couple in their 70s and a 62-year-old resident.

Russian air defences shot down 25 Ukrainian drones over Ryazan overnight, regional governor Pavel Malkov reported.

“Falling debris caused a fire on the premises of one enterprise,” Malkov confirmed on Telegram, noting no casualties.

Separate Russian attacks killed four civilians in southern Ukrainian regions on Saturday.

Prosecutors confirmed three deaths in Kherson region’s Myklitskyi village and Kherson city.

Zaporizhzhia region governor Ivan Federov reported one civilian killed by Russian shelling.
