World leaders extend Chinese New Year greetings to Xi Jinping

Leaders from Russia, Brazil, South Africa, and the UN send well-wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping, highlighting bilateral ties and global cooperation.

BEIJING: World leaders and heads of international organisations have extended Chinese New Year greetings to President Xi Jinping.

Messages from more than 50 countries and organisations congratulated the Chinese people on the New Year of the Horse.

Russian President Vladimir Putin noted the sound momentum in the Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership.

He confirmed the two countries will jointly launch the “Russia-China Years of Education” in 2026.

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva voiced readiness to continue expanding cooperation with China.

He expressed a desire to work together to build a community with a shared future for a more just and sustainable world.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said South Africa is willing to further strengthen cooperation with China.

He stated this would contribute positively to world peace and development.

Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith expressed confidence the Chinese people will successfully embark on their new Five-Year Plan journey.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said China will continue achieving remarkable accomplishments under Xi’s leadership.

In a video message, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres thanked China for supporting multilateralism and global solidarity.

He looked forward to building a safer and more inclusive future together.
