Trump praised Xi as a great leader of a great country and expressed confidence in their long-term fantastic relationship.
The Chinese president emphasised that both leaders must ensure the steady sailing forward of China-US relations despite challenges.
Xi noted that China’s development aligns with Trump’s vision to make America great again.
Both leaders have maintained close contact through three phone calls and several letters since Trump’s re-election.
Xi affirmed that Beijing and Washington can help each other succeed and prosper together.
He reiterated that partnership represents both historical lessons and current reality demands.
The leaders confirmed their economic teams reached basic consensus on addressing major concerns during recent consultations.
Trump announced they had already agreed to many things and expected further agreements during their meeting.
Xi acknowledged this consensus created necessary conditions for their productive discussions.
The Chinese president committed to continuing cooperation with Trump to build a solid foundation for bilateral relations.
Trump described Xi as a very tough negotiator while expressing optimism about a potential trade deal.
