Hafizh Syahrin to announce new development with JDT racing team next week

SEPANG: National rider Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah (pix) will announce a new development with Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) Racing Team next week.

Hafizh Syahrin said he was still in the process of deciding his future with JDT Racing Team, including plans for the 2024 Asian Road Racing Championship.

“Most probably we’ll announce my next move in terms of projects (with JDT Racing Team) by next week.

“Big or small, we shall wait and see. I know the media is waiting for this development,” he told reporters after the launch of a new product by motorcycle accessory company Racing Boy (RCB) in conjunction with the 2023 Malaysia MotoGP World Grand Prix at the Sepang International Circuit here today.

He added that he would not want to waste his opportunity with JDT, as it was a successful local sports brand in the country.

JDT, which has entered into sports like football, futsal, polo, boxing and ice hockey, confirmed last month that it would expand into motorsports with Hafizh next year.

Hafizh has competed for eight seasons in MotoGP including the premier class in 2018 and 2019 since becoming a full time racer in 2014.

The 29-year-old also hoped that both Moto2 wildcard entrants Azroy Hakeem Anuar and Helmi Anuar would not be too far behind the winners during this Sunday’s race, perhaps being under a minute behind the eventual winner.

“I hope they stay on the bike until the race ends and can within a gap below one minute with the winner,” he said. –Bernama
