Artistic gymnastics delivers 4 medals for Malaysia at SEA Games

Malaysia’s artistic gymnasts win one gold, one silver and two bronzes on day two of the SEA Games 2025, boosting the national contingent’s medal tally.

BANGKOK: Artistic gymnastics lifted the national contingent with a four-medal haul on the second day of the SEA Games Thailand 2025.

Rachel Yeoh delivered Malaysia’s sole gold of the day, winning the women’s uneven bars with a score of 13.300 points at Thammasat University’s Rangsit Campus.

Luqman Al Hafiz Zulfa added a silver in the men’s floor exercise, scoring 12.833 points.

The squad’s bronze medals came from Muhammad Sharul Aimy Kamaru Hisam in the men’s pommel horse and Yeap Kang Xian in the men’s vault.

In swimming, two national records were broken at the Sports Authority of Thailand complex.

Tong Yu Jing set a new mark of 22.48 seconds to win bronze in the men’s 50-metre freestyle on his SEA Games debut.

The men’s 4x200m freestyle relay team of Khiew Hoe Yean, Terence Ng, Ananda Lim and Arvin Shaun Singh also broke the national record, clocking 7:19.50s for silver.

Additional silver medals were secured in karate, taekwondo, jiujitsu and waterski.

Thailand’ Puripol Boonson made history by becoming the first Southeast Asian runner to dip under 10 seconds in the 100m heats, clocking 9.94s.

He later won gold in the final in 10 seconds, with Malaysia’s Danish Iftikhar Muhammad Roslee taking bronze in 10.26s.

As of 10pm local time, Thailand led the medal table with 41 golds, while Malaysia was sixth with three gold, 12 silver and 21 bronze medals. – Bernama
