BAM demands immediate post-mortem after Malaysia’s 3-0 loss to Indonesia in the SEA Games men’s team final, with focus on upcoming Asian team event.
BADMINTON Association of Malaysia has ordered an immediate review following the national men’s team’s failure to win gold at the SEA Games.
Malaysia was defeated 3-0 by Indonesia in the final on Wednesday, a result BAM secretary-general Datuk Kenny Goh described as “disappointing”.
He has instructed national coaching directors Kenneth Jonassen and Rexy Mainaky to conduct a post-mortem to prevent a repeat.
“We must definitely do something drastic,” Kenny told reporters on Thursday.
The review is urgent as the team prepares for the Badminton Asia Team Championships in China next February.
Malaysia last won the men’s team gold at the SEA Games in 2005.
Despite the team event setback, Kenny hopes the shuttlers will refocus for the individual competitions, which run until Sunday.
BAM had set a target of four gold medals for the badminton contingent at the Games.
