Malaysian doubles pair stay humble after back-to-back badminton titles

National shuttlers Kang Khai Xing-Aaron Tai remain grounded after winning two consecutive tournaments in India, targeting more consistency.

KUALA LUMPUR: National men’s doubles pair Kang Khai Xing and Aaron Tai are keeping their feet on the ground despite securing two consecutive titles in India.

The duo recently triumphed at the Syed Modi International Championships and the Guwahati Masters.

Khai Xing admitted they are happy with the success but acknowledged they still have much to learn.

“I am extremely happy with being back-to-back champions, as it means a lot to us,” he said in a statement.

He added that the victories have boosted their confidence and will help improve their world ranking.

The shuttler feels they need to train harder to build confidence against the world’s top 10 pairs.

On Sunday, the former junior world champions claimed their third title this season at the Guwahati Masters.

They defeated India’s Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy and Krishnaprasad Sai Pratheek 21-13, 21-18 in the final.

The pair also won the Malaysia Super 100 tournament in October.

Khai Xing and Aaron will now aim for a hat-trick of Indian titles at the Odisha Masters, which runs from today until December 14. – Bernama
