Suns end Lakers’ winning streak, Mavs upset Nuggets in NBA action

Phoenix Suns halted the Lakers’ seven-game run despite Devin Booker’s injury, while the Dallas Mavericks stunned the Denver Nuggets

LOS ANGELES: The Phoenix Suns ended the Los Angeles Lakers’ seven-game winning streak with a commanding 125-108 road victory on Monday.

Devin Booker exited in the first quarter with an injury, but his absence did not slow the Suns’ offensive momentum.

Dillon Brooks led Phoenix with 33 points, while Collin Gillespie added 28 points, including eight three-pointers.

The Lakers committed a costly 22 turnovers, which the Suns converted into 32 points.

Luka Doncic scored a game-high 38 points for the Lakers, with Austin Reaves adding 16 and Deandre Ayton 12.

LeBron James struggled, finishing with just 10 points on 3-of-10 shooting.

In Denver, the Dallas Mavericks upset the Denver Nuggets 131-121 behind Anthony Davis’s 32 points and 13 rebounds.

Nikola Jokic recorded a triple-double with 29 points, 20 rebounds, and 13 assists for the Nuggets.

Dallas seized control by outscoring Denver 42-27 in the second quarter to take a one-point halftime lead.

The Mavericks sealed the win with a 29-17 fourth-quarter run, improving their record to 7-15.

Elsewhere, the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Indiana Pacers 135-119, led by Donovan Mitchell’s 43 points.

The Utah Jazz upset the Houston Rockets 133-125 in Salt Lake City.

The Detroit Pistons edged the Atlanta Hawks 99-98 to remain atop the Eastern Conference, with Cade Cunningham scoring eight of his 18 points in the fourth quarter. – AFP
